LASL Semi Final – Swingers v Deal Breakers
It always seems to be the way that when we play over at Primrose Hill the weather is shit, and as it has been so it was again.
Under leaden skies we saw the Deal Breakers team of ringers slowly saunter down the hill. Again it was the case against these guys that we seemed to be playing a team of hard bitten Yanks, who didn’t seem to be having much fun.
Then as start loomed large, we discovered that there was to be no League Umpire, so yours truly stepped up to produce my dodgy calls that upset everyone, especially the oppo pitcher.
1st Inning
Tight fielding and good throws in from the outfield restrict Deal Breakers to 3.
Edge and Goosta our ringers bring home the bacon, with two hits and ably assisted by Fordy (who you could barely see below the stubble), we get 2.

2nd Inning
Deal Breakers’ ringers start to make good hits, nothing flashy, just base hits. Power continues with her alternative fielding techniques, using anything but the glove, 4 to them.
The quick outs from the enthusiastic Dealers outfield and we’re closed out.
3rd Inning
The Energiser Bunny kicks in and starts a string of fine catches in the outfield. However he and Edge cannot stop Dealers getting 4 more runs.
Back in the game; some quality hitting from our team, Edge, Goosta and Fordy get home. Our solar powered Aussie Krusty is having a tough game under the leaden skies, 3 to us.
4th Inning
They confusingly start changing their batting order and start gunning towards our weak spots, although Powers alternative fielding technique holds. Marcus gets another catch. 3 run.
Trouble for the Swingers, another shut out, we just couldn’t get the hits moving.
5th Inning
They hit a couple of homers but we’re fielding well and keep their score down to 4.
Trouble for the Swingers, that is until Delaney steps up and slugs a homer into the stratosphere. 1 run.

Marcus lasts longer than anyother alkaline battery
A great inning from the Swingers, really putting the pressure on, hits throughout the order, getting 7 home and to within 7. Can we produce our signature big last inning to win?

Becs is calm and confident going into the last inning.
10 to win, ‘Come on Proximity!’ or something like it is shouted by Goosta. However in search of big hits we almost inevitably find the fielders.
Final Score: Swingers 13 Deal Breakers 22, good result against a ringer-ladended team.
